Instant Preview

Whenever you change a renaming option Complete File Renamer shows the new file name automatically. The old file name and the new file name are shown side by side.

Color Coded Messages

Whenever you do something on a file a text message shows the status message. Color codes are used to give visual clues to file renaming operations.

Undo / Redo

Every actual renaming operation is recorded so that you can Undo the changes with a simple button click.

File Browser

File selectin is done using the integrated file browser. The file browser displays system file icons and is keyboard friendly. You can add single files, multiple files, or all the files in a folder and its subfolders with a button click.

Command Line File Renamer 1.0 (cmdren.exe)

Complete File Renamer includes cmdren.exe, a command line file renamer. You can use this utility tool to automate your work.

With cmdren.exe you can combine multipe commands and apply to large groups of files at once. For example:

cmdren.exe *.* -case word -delete curly -space from uscore period

Changes filename case to word casing (capital initials), deletes text inbetween burly braces, and converts underscores and periods to space characters, for each file in the current folder.

Mp3 Renaming

Complete File Renamer can rename your files using MP3 song information. It supports Id3v1 (1.0 1.1) and Id3v2 (2.2, 2.3, 2.4) tags. Mp3 Tags are displayed next to the file names. You can rename your songs free style as you like using the mp3 tags or you can select one of the common mp3 file name formats.

File Extension

• Change to another extension.
• Change extension case to UPPER CASE, lower case, Word Case, Sentence case, tOGGLE cASE, RaNDom CAse.

Case

• Change filename case to UPPER CASE, lower case, Word Case, Sentence case, tOGGLE cASE, RaNDom CAse.
• Keep short English words in lower case as "a", "an", "the", "and", "or"...
• Keep acronym in their correct case.
• Roman numeral aware.

Space

• Convert underscore '_', period '.', or the annoying '% 20' to space.
• Convert space to underscore '_' or period '.' .
• Separate combined CamelCaseWords. 'MyNewMusicFile.mp3' will become 'My New Music File.mp3'.
• Remove extra spaces from start, end, or all.

Replace

• Replace text. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, last, or all occurrences.
• Case sensitive / insensitive searches.

Insert

• Insert text at the beginning or end.
• Insert text at a given column number.
• Insert text after or before finding a text. Case sensitive / insensitive searches.

Delete

• Delete text between ( ), [ ] or { }
• Delete extra spaces from start, end, or all
• Delete given number of characters from beginning or end
• Delete given number of characters starting at given column number
• Delete given number of character after or before finding some text. Case sensitive / insensitive searches.

Automatic Numbering

Change digit length of existing numbers in filenames.
